November 2016: Congratulations to Trevor, Ted, Tyler, Trina and Kayla for their work on the boracarboxylation of vinyl arenes that was
published in Organic Letters. The work also received ACS Publications Editor's Choice distinction!
October 2016: The Group welcomes graduate student Steven Knowlden. Notashia's collaborative work characterizing the electronic
properties of furan-containing nanohoops synthesized by the Wang group was recently published in
Chemistry: A European Journal. Way to go Notashia, Behzad, Haresh, and Changfeng!

July 2016: Congratulations to Rachael Pickens for successfully defending her M.S. thesis on the reactivity of Cp*–Group IX complexes
with ambiphilic ligands. We also say goodbye and wish you the best of luck on your PhD studies at Ohio University!

May 2016: Great job to all that presented posters at the CERM meeting in Covington, KY! All had a great time at the conference and
at the Reds-Indians baseball game.
April 2016: Trevor was named an NSF Graduate Fellow and Ted received Honorable Mention. Trevor will start his graduate work with Prof.
Hartwig at UC-Berkeley and Ted will start his graduate work at the University of Michigan in the fall.

March 2016: An NSF-REU proposal for a Site in the Department of Chemistry was approved for funding. Prof. Richards-Babb is the
PI and Prof. Popp is the co-PI. Thanks go to all in the Department that contributed to the proposal effort!

August 2014: An NSF-MRI proposal for the acquisition of a in-situ infrared spectrometry system for the Department of Chemistry was
approved for funding. Professor Popp is a co-PI on the project and he was the lead author of the proposal.
April 2014: Trevor was awarded the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship. Only 283 scholarships are awarded annually in this national

May 2013: We received an ACS-PRF grant for our work on the organometallic chemistry of late-transition-metal zwitterions.

January 2013: Behzad F. grew his first X-ray quality crystals of a new biphenolate ligand. The X-ray diffraction data was acquired and
refined successfully over the weekend thanks to Prof. Jeff Petersen. Way to go Behzad!

last week. The X-ray diffraction data was acquired and refined successfully over the weekend thanks to Prof. Jeff Petersen.
