(2012). Judith Gold Stitzel Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Women's
Studies. West Virginia University Center for Women's Studies.
(2011). Outstanding Principal Investigator in Aging Award (New York Academy of Medicine/Social Work Leadership Initiative, national award). Given to a HPPAE participant who has advanced aging through research, through community service, through strengthening university-community ties, through securing institutional and financial support for aging.
(2011). David K. Brown Scholar Award. (WV Geriatric Education Center state award/ funded by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration- HRSA, $1000). Mentored, advanced training program in geriatrics.
(2005). Selected to be an “expert trainer” by the Council on Social Work Education’s National Center for Gerontological Social Work Education.
(2004-05). One of 15 participants chosen nationally for the First Annual Institute on Aging and Social Work. The program is sponsored by the National Institute on Aging and provides advanced training in aging research to social work faculty.
