• My research focuses on colonial discourses in early-modern Latin America in general, and Mexico in particular. Although I continue to be fascinated by the historiography of Don Fernando de Alva Ixtlilxochitl, my current projects have to do with letters written in the sixteenth century from the Río de la Plata, the different representations of the Toxcatl massacre at the Templo Mayor, and captivity stories and their links to national identity in Mexico.
• I am an enthusiastic teacher who encourages active participation by creating a low-anxiety environment in the classroom. I believe learning is the best part of teaching and that consistency, discipline, and respect are the hallmarks of a good teacher. |
