Java

WVU eCampus requires that Java Runtime Environment (JRE) be installed for many of the course tools to function.

Sun JRE can be obtained from:

***Please be aware of the following change in Java 6 Update 19***

The newest update to Java 6 now presents users with a pop-up asking if unsafe components should be blocked, everyone should click NO!  By clicking Yes, certain components in eCampus will NOT function properly.   If a user has clicked Yes, close out of the eCampus session and browser window, open a new window, log back in and click No when prompted.

Be sure to click "No" on the Java pop-up!

Luckily, it does not appear that currently installed versions of Java are automatically upgrading to the newest update as of yet.  The only way to get the newest update is by going directly to the Java site.  Older versions of Java can be found here http://java.sun.com/products/archive/ if it is desirable to revert (JDK/JRE - 6 Update 18).  Questions or problems concerning this change should be directed to the OIT Help Desk at 293-4444.
