About Me

I did my undergraduate degree in Physics at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. While in Sri Lanka I worked on optical astronomy at the Arthur C Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies which facilitates the 45cm Cassegrain telescope, under the supervision of Dr. C. Jayaratne. After graduating, I worked as a lab instructor at the department of Physics of the University of Colombo for six months. I joined West Virginia University in the spring of 2008 as a graduate student. I have worked as a teaching assistant where I taught the Physics 102 lab on Electricity and Magnetism. Currently I work with Dr. Maura McLaughlin on pulsar research.

I have been involved in outreach activities in collaboration with Elon University, the University of Colombo and local public schools in Sri Lanka, on popularizing science at the high school level in SriLanka. Information on this can be found here.
