VOLUNTEERS

INFORMATION • BOOTH

Volunteers:

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Morgantown Farmers' Market volunteer! Volunteers are essential to every aspect of our mission – from our hard-working Board of Directors to those who help give shoppers directions at our information booth. Without volunteers we simply wouldn't be able to meet our goals of supporting local farmers and educating the public on the importance of buying locally.
If you're interested in becoming a volunteer for our market, please contact Market Manager, for additional information. Here are some things we need volunteers to help with:

Information Booth:

Where can I buy eggs? Are all these vendors organic? Where is the bathroom? How can I become a vendor at the Market? These are just a few of the questions the volunteers at the Information Booth answer each Saturday. If you want to learn the inner working of the market, hang out in a beautiful place, and meet a lot of people, this is the job for you.
Skills Required: Excellent customer skills, positive can-do attitude, a great smile, the talent of being courteous to difficult people and the ability to remember lots of facts. Written material, maps and weekly updates are provided.
Time Commitment: Four hours at the Saturday Market

Market Counters:

Are you a people watcher? Do you love data collection? The Morgantown Farmers Market is growing and we like to keep track of this growth, so every Saturday we count the customers entering each side of the market.
Skills Required: Ability to stand for 10 minutes at a time while avoiding distractions.
Time Commitment: 10 minutes on the half hour for as many hours as you like, this job allows for lots of shopping time between counts.

Event Assistants:

The Morgantown Farmers Market hosts a variety of special events. Event days add children’s activities, contests, cooking demos and other special happenings to the regular atmosphere. You may be called on to decorate the Information Booth, help kids paint pumpkins, or pass out seasonal samples. We are searching for people who can make things look great on our very small budget, those who enjoy interacting with shoppers and others who have a basic knowledge of food, cooking and nutrition.
Skills Required: Creative and fun-loving attitude. Love of food & cooking, interest in local agriculture, good public relations/teaching skill and ease at talking to the public.
Time Commitment: Four hours at the Saturday Market
