Xiaohan Ye (Class of 2009)

Xiaohan was born in Changshu, a quiet town in southeast China. In 2004, he went to Beijing and got his B.S degree from China Agricultural University in 2008. He was slowly involved in the world of organic synthesis during these four year studies. And now, he was showing this influence here by joining Dr. Shi's triazole group at  West Virginia Unviersity, to pursue his PhD degree. What will happen in the next N years? A story of triazole? or something else? Let's wait and see.

Rong Cai (Class of 2010)

Rong got her B.S. degree from University of Science and Technology of China on July, 2010. After graduation, she came to WVU and joined Dr. Shi's group in September, 2010. There are lots of things for her to learn here in order to understand the mystery of organic chemistry. A journey of thousand miles begins from one single step. 

Sravan Kumar Thummanapelly (Class of 2010)

Hi, I am Sravan Kumar Thummanapelli. I have completed my B.Sc. from Kakatiya University in 2001 and my Masters from Osmania university in 2004. After completion of my masters I have worked for Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., CPS, Miyapur one of the top most companies in India for 6 years.  In the Fall 2010, I came to WVU and joined Dr. Shi's research group.

Yanwei Zhang (Class of 2010)

Hello, I am Yanwei Zhang. I came from Weifang, a beautiful city of China. In 2008, I graduated from Tianjin University and joined in Dr. Shi's group in 2010 fall. The life in the group is quite different, full of fun and challenge. And I enjoy it so much!

Seyedmorteza Hosseyni (Class of 2011)

Morteza was born in Mashhad, a city in north east of Iran. He came to USA in Fall 2011, after receiving his M.Sc degree from Sharif University of Technology (SUT) in organic chemistry under supervision of Prof. Hashemi. Currently, he works in Prof. Shi's research group as a PhD student, enjoying the art of organic synthesis.

Boliang Dong (Class of 2012)

Hi! My name is Boliang Dong. I am from Heilongjiang Province, China. In 2012, I got my master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Tianjin University, and I started my Ph.D study at West Virginia University from August. Now I am working in Dr. Shi’s group.. I love this place.

Stephen Motika (Class of 2012)

Steve was born and raised in Kutztown, Pennsylvania.  He attended Elizabethtown College where he received his B.S. degree in Chemistry.  He arrived in Morgantown in the fall as a PhD student and quickly joined Dr. Shi’s research group.

Ying He (Class of 2014)

Hi, my name is Ying He. I come from Tianjin, a coastal city featuring a combination of Chinese and western culture, modern and ancient elements in northern China. I got my Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Lanzhou University, China in 2013. Pursuing a Ph.D. degree at WVU in Dr. Shi's group is exciting and challenging. A magic journey to enjoy the life in Morgantown as well as to appreciate the beauty of logic in chemistry has begun!

Yijin Su

My name is Yijin Su. I got my Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from peking university in 2012.  After that, I joined Dr. Shi’s group in August 2012.

Haihui Peng

My name is Haihui Peng. I graduated from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science. I joined Pro. Shi's group in September 2013.

Edward J. McClain

Hi, my name is Ed McClain. I was born in Pittsburgh, PA but moved to Cary, NC at the age of five, where I graduated from Green Hope High. I am currently pursuing degrees of a Chemistry B.S. and a Biology B.S. at West Virginia University and am looking to pursue a Ph.D. in my future.

Ellen Aguilera

My name is Ellen Aguilera. I was born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, but moved to Long Island, NY at the age of two. I am currently at West Virginia University pursuing my B.S. in Chemistry. I joined Dr. Shi's research group during the Summer of 2014. I intend to pursue a Ph.D in Chemistry.
